 Dirt Road Brewing a Photo story by Clayton Lynch and Evan Finley      Dirt Road Brewing is a local brewery/pub located at 13th and main downtown Philomath, OR. Since 2019, Dirt Road has been serving the community fresh  artisan pizza and a wide variety of in-house brewed beer. Despite spending the majority of its time open under COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, Dirt Road is thriving, expanding and has become a Philomath staple. Dirt Road opened its doors to the public in August of 2019, but founder Chuck Cox has been brewing beer for quite a while. It all started in his garage with a home brew kit. Overtime, the brewing system in Cox’s garage grew larger and more advanced as the positive feedback from friends and family grew. Cox says opening the pub was a part of the natural progression. Week 8: Summer's Here

  Pictured above is the Tree give away being conducted during the earth day celebration being conducted on April 19th. The members of the AAWCC, on the left, are educating both student and faculty, on the right, about the different plants they have on display. Not only we're they informing the students and faculty about these plants, but they were also giving away seeds so people could plant these plants on their own.  Pictured above is Alex Loveday. Alex Loveday is a students/LBCC employee. He works in the green house helping maintain the plants that live there. In this photo specifically, he is giving me a tour of the green house and all the different plants that he takes care of. Not only does he take care of the plants, but he also cross breeds different plants. Currently he's cross breeding some strawberries. Alex Loveday hopes to work with plants some day in the near future.  A succulent being watered in the LBCC green house.

It's What I Do: A Photographers Life of Love and War Book Report.

The book “It's What I Do: A Photographer's Life of Love and War” by Lynsey Addario is a memoir that details not only her time across the sea in the middle east following 9/11, but also discusses many aspects about how Lynsey Addario makes a name for herself in the male dominated field of photography. One aspect specifically about this book that will stand out to anyone reading it is the treatment of women in these middle east countries, and the uphill battle Addario had as a female photographer in these countries. One example that is even given to readers by Addario is how she had to pretend to be married to a man in order to gain access and photograph the Taliban. This not only stands out because of the methods she had to go through to get certain photos, but also really displays one big signature of Addario. Photographer of the Week: Matt Cohen

  Matt Cohen is a very well known sports photographer whose "claim to fame" is rodeo photography. First to get a good idea of where Matt Cohen started we have to travel all the way back to his early life. Matt Cohen's Father was an amateur photographer, so over the course of Matt Cohen's childhood his Father taught him many aspects of photography at that time. These included loading film and calculating exposure to name a few. Over the course of his young adult life Matt Cohen continued to shoot photos, but became bored very quickly with the subjects he was shooting. However, this would all change when Matt Cohen's friend began dating a former photojournalist. This would become one of the most crucial aspects of why Matt Cohen has become one of the most well known rodeo photographers. The former photojournalist became somewhat of a mentor to Matt Cohen. Hometown Photos.

  The historic Albany Carousel is a project long in the making. Officially it started carving the animals featured on the carousel back in June 2003, and didn't officially finish until August 2017. Albany Carousel is still a relatively new addition to down downtown Albany, OR being located at 503 W 1st Ave. The Albany Carousel's goal is not only to offer another fun attraction to downtown Albany, but is also there to bring more visibility to the beautiful art these carvers create. Currently the carousel holds a variety of carved animals including dragons, lions, bears, and a 7ft tall giraffe. Overall, the carousel has 41 animals but plans to bring that total up to 52 in the near future.  Pictured above is Rod Bigner. Rod Bigner and his wife are the owners of a small town movie theater located in Albany, OR called the Pix Theater. While, this theater may be seen and described as a tiny theater, this couldn't be further from the truth if you talk to any Albany, OR resident. D

Portrait/Mug Shot

This is Forrest Johnson, he has worked as a Linn Benton Community College(LBCC) librarian since 2016. As of Fall 2022 Forrest Johnson has been hired as the head of the Mill Maker Space on LBCC campus. The Mill Maker Space is a new space, created in Fall 2022, to provide resources for building projects that students may not have access to. Stem Hub continuously voiced their ideas about creating this space, but Forrest Johnson was the person who really drove to get this space created. Over the last year and a half the Mill Maker Space has become a crucial resource for multiple classes on campus. Forrest Johnson, Maker Space and Lending Librarian Faculty.
